Seamus Connelly is a musician based in Long Beach, California, who has typically relied on voice memos to record his thoughts. Designing and making a sketchbook for him to practice creative freedom, journaling, music plans, writing lyrics, and anything else was exciting once I knew he had never had one before. He enjoys traveling, so his sketchbook’s cover is brown to resemble earth and adventure. The book’s cover extends around the edges, forming a guitar-shaped outline on top with a vertical string holding it all together. Half of the 80 pages are lined for journaling and lyrics, while the other half remains blank for sketches or free expression. His favorite color is olive green, so I incorporated this hue in the interior and the lines throughout the sketchbook. Completing the book, the pocket on the back for anything he wants to hold, presumably guitar picks.
